I agree with Urban.... Trial and error is a good teacher. However, if you are not making progress by this method, one can become somewhat despondant and maybe even give up. I can outline here the results of my trials, errors and success ! and hope this may help. I do all of the big printing work like titles on sheet music or on a Conductor Score in MS Word on a PC which I run for non-music applications side by side with the Atari. I would allow a Header space (say Header space 120) to accodomate the title details on page 1. I use a H.P. Deskjet 500 for printing both from the PC and Atari. I have found that by just loading Font ATSS 18 LS from the Emagic Font Disk 1, and using it in different configurations ( 2:1, 3:2, 2:3) that this gives me all the variation I want for say; performance instructions, Song Words, Bar numbers, rest bars, etc. The best configuration for these I find is 2:3. When you put them on the screen, they look too big and appear as if they are going to print on top of the stave etc. However, if you position the drag-down text box carefully at first, it does not matter how it looks on screen, the text WILL be right at print-out. That is what works for me anyway. You may if you wish load all of the fonts from the font-disk, memory permitting, (I have 4Mb) but for a bubble jet or laser printer, the manual says the only fonts that will work at those with LS ending (ie ATSS 12 LS etc.) In the Font Configuration Page I assign the different fonts to slots d, e, f etc. and enter the particular slot letter in the appropriate slot space in the boxes for screen/72 DPI, 100 DPI and 300 DPI. You can then toggle the font size 3:2 etc, according to your requirements, and allocate the particular style number to the various parameters in the screen right-hand boxes ( Trackname Style, Bar Number Style etc. etc.) I am not a whiz-kid in these matters by any means, but I do get results of which I can be pleased with in score printout. >I've had little success in translating what I've read in the manual into >reality. I agree that the manual is not much help, but I hope what I have said above may be of some help if you go down the road I have outlined > >One specific problem has been that the accidentals on chord >symbols are printing in a larger size font than the chord symbol itself.
