One has the OPTION to install to a Hard Drive. Hi there Amy, When you recieve Notator you have the option of either copying to a hard drive or running from a floppy. However "install" routines to prevent bootlegging usually come on floppy (or CD ROM) and the verification code is installed onto a hard drive. A lot of us in 'Atari land' still run everything from floppy and therefore I asked the question whether this idea would include the option of installing the verification code to another floppy. The reason there is a current "thread" with regards to alternatives to the dongle is because members of this list would like to see Notator in the public/freeware domain as Emagic at this moment in time are reluctant to further develop this product. If the product was released then we could effectively support and develop the product ourselves.
