Hi there, all though I'm no 'legal eagle' I think there WOULD be a legal problem with regards to modifying Notator to work without the 'copy protection key' or dongle as we sometimes like to call it. If you look in your manual there is a statement with regards to the use of Notator with regards to copy protection and making a legal 'backup'. Now to get Notaor to work without the key you would have to 'hack and crack' the program disk and modify the code to do so. If I remember correctly in the manual there is a line that states the user must not attempt to 'find' the source code of the program. Therefore you would be breaking the agreement that you effectively enetered into with Emagic/C-Lab when you broke the seal on the package that contained your program disks. I understand that ofcourse you have your own innocent reasons for wanting to undertake this exercise however I hope you can appreciate that people might want to undertake such an exercise for 'other' reasons. As Hallvard has already commented it would be nice for Emagic to release the item into the public domain but until then Emagic still have an obligation to protect their 'intellectual property' and also we as users have the obligation to respect the agreement we have freely enetered into. Regards.
