Anyway, I have forced myself to turn OFF that television with its round-the-clock non-stop press conferences, and get back to creating music. You friends, bless you, taught me to switch the FLAGS and get 32-tracks in one qpparent pattern, and I'm off to the races writing a work for a big orchestra. Never thought an old Mega ST could mount such a project. Others with FINALE, Sibelius or whatever, running in G4's or hyper-Windoze machines, gawk in admiration at my Notator scores, printed out on my HP5L printer. 22 staves just fits nicely on one page with everything in miniature mode. Anyway, back in the old days when I was dealing with just 16 tracks per pattern I'd use MULTI copy to `create' some new measures in the space where just a bar-line was before. Copy everything in REPLACE mode, into a new position 3 bars forward, and then erase all the notes in the 3 new measures created by that step. But in the 32-track mode it's not so easy. I can still copy all the events in pattern 1, but my string section is down in Pattern 2. With those 5 staves I find I must only copy individual tracks to the new position. It's coumbersome, but it works. Thus far I've not crashed my Mega much, and am able to save everything. But am I missing something here? Is the whole copy-forward-with-replace technique the best way to create 3 new measures in the middle of an ongoing work? John S.
