Hi again Petr,
just a guess, but have you tried checking whether Unitor is received 
SMPTE code back from your tape machine? If not, it could be something 
simple like dirty tape heads or a dodgy contact in the leads to and 
from the Unitor. It's happened to me in the past, that's why I'm 
suggesting it.
  In addition, are the leads connected round the correct way?
(I've done this myself so don't laugh too loud)
