Suggestions

Try unit on another computer

Cables - test or better, try new ones and test these also

In - test with known signal
Out - test with known signal

Resolder all internal contacts even if things look ok

Take cover off, put plugs in = look very closely at the physical contacts
and ensure they are touching. Sometimes plug contacts get bent inside...

Remember point before it went wrong, was it connected to other gear -
possibly stray voltage went down cable?

Take it and computer to a techo to test for signal
