Yay. E-bay makes my day. There was some outfit selling FIVE ! never-used, guaranteed no DOA, Quantum 220 SCSI drives. I won the bid for something like $7.00. I believe that I can now confidently keep my Atari system alive for another decade. (and I may well have more megabytes of storage for that $7.00 than existed in the entire USA, back in 1963!) And, Hallvard, I will indeed pay close attention to the old (presumably 40mB Seagate) HD that is dormant within the Mega Ste, and see where the terminator is, and what the terminator is doing. Thanks for that info. I was curious as to just what is the host adaptor in there. Atari would never have gotten hold of a licence to install ICD boards, would they? I have several floppies with the ICD utilities on them, and I'm hoping that ICD will hand-shake with the system. As it is, there is an ancient ICD FA-st box with a working drive in it, which the previous owner was using to keep the Mega STe viable. Unfortunately, there was no DMA cable with the unit [:(] ... but I just happen to have a spare DMA cable at home, a legacy of my old days with the Nova Scotia Atari Users Group. So by this time next week, I may be installing a Quantum 220 in the Mega. Keep your fingers crossed. The good news is that the floppy drive still functions, as does the one in my "main" Notator unit, an ancient Mega ST with TOS 1.02. I remember the floppy drive was the first component to fail in my 1040Ste, back in the late 1990's. I yearn to send Barrie the UK pounds for that VGA adaptor. It seems easier than finding tiny resistors to fit inside the barrel of a DIN plug housing. Now I remember seeing that diagram back in my NSACUG (XEST) newsletter days. Best regards from Toronto.
