I've considered this too (and haven't given up on the idea), but believe 
it could become a pretty complicated setup. I'll look into it though.

I assure you that if I go ahead with this I'll be aiming for 
user-friendliness and most things should be self-explanetory or 
explained clearly as you go along. If you can surf the web you should 
have no problem reading/posting in a well-configured web forum :-)

A useful option (user-configurable) is the ability to get an email 
message (with a link to click) in case a thread you've started or want 
to follow has received a new reply. That way you can just sit back and 
don't have to browse the web forum all the time just to see if there's a 
new message.
That brings a thought to mind: a user-configurable setting for email 
alerts whenever ANY message is posted to the forum. Being such a 
low-volume forum that would be a great feature so you don't miss out on 
anything even if you don't visit the forum regularly. I'll look into 
that too.
